The show features a cage in which the live crossbreeding of a Russian Orloff rooster with two Mechelse Ancona hens takes place. A parallel project - the crossbreeding of a Mechelse Ancona rooster with two Russian Orloff hens - is part of the installation with which Koen Vanmechelen participates in the 3rd Moscow Biennale, curated by Jean-Hubert Martin, from 24 September until 25 October 2009 at the Garage - Center for Contemporary Culture in Moscow, Russia. Aside from this installation, the show entitled Orloff also features an overview of important works that have resulted from the project so far: the complete series of portraits of the cocks up to the one showing the Mechelse Cubalaya, the sculpture Salvator Globe, the installation Virtual Mechelse Fighter, drawings, a new edition of the pair Orloff x Mechelse Ancona, and several other objects.
