Panamarenko - Klapperschroef-Rugzak-Met-Vliegenier (Batopillo) & other works

it is our utmost pleasure to present you herewith a new individual exhibition of Panamarenko in Deweer Art Gallery. The new one-man show "Panamarenko - KLAPPERSCHROEF-RUGZAK-MET-VLIEGENIER & other works” takes place in the spaces of the old electrical power plant Transfo in Zwevegem.
The unique and stimulating collaboration between Panamarenko and Deweer Art Gallery lasts for more than twenty years now. No other private gallery, be it in Belgium or abroad, has been promoting the art of Belgium’s leading artist over such a long period!
The exhibition "Panamarenko - KLAPPERSCHROEF-RUGZAK-MET-VLIEGENIER & other works” revolves mainly around the presentation – ‘an absolute scoop’, as Panamarenko says – of the latest sculpture by the Antwerp master, his Klapperschroef-rugzak-met-vliegenier (which roughly translates as ‘Flapping-propeller-backpack-with-aviator’), in short, the Batopillo. This new work will be shown in conjunction with several new drawings and a selection of existing works as the Ijsvogel (2003) and the Helikopter (1973-1986). Further, we are very pleased that we will finally be able to introduce our latest multiple object, the Scotch Gambit (2005) to the public. On the Transfo site, the large Scotch Gambit(1998), which has been there since September 2004, will be shown alongside its small-scale multiple. Finally, we can also divulge that the exhibition will also feature a very special and exclusive object. However, we cannot say anything more about it for the time being.
Besides presenting new work, the exhibition is guaranteed to offer visitors the extraordinary experience of witnessing the interaction of Panamarenko’s creations with the industrial setting of the Transfo site. The show is therefore doubly recommended.
The exhibition “Panamarenko - KLAPPERSCHROEF-RUGZAK-MET-VLIEGENIER & other works” will be opened on Saturday 9 April 2005, from 3.30 p.m. until 6.30 p.m. and remains open until 19 June (open Saturdays and Sundays, 2 - 6 p.m.). A catalogue is being prepared.
Up until 22 May and during the same opening hours the public can also visit the exhibition “Koen Vanmechelen - Cosmopolitan Chicken Project - Virtual Mechelse Fighters” in Deweer Art Gallery in Otegem.
